CHF/USD mid-market rate vs. typical bank markup
Banks and currency exchange services don't quote you the same CHF/USD rate you see on Toolhub. They typically apply a 1.5–3% markup on top of the mid-market rate, often hidden inside the exchange rate itself rather than shown as a separate fee. On a CHF 1,000 transfer, that's a hidden cost of roughly CHF 15–30 in the rate spread, on top of any wire transfer fees your bank may charge. Always ask your provider for the "effective rate" — the actual rate they'll apply to your transaction — and compare it to the live mid-market rate above to see the true cost.
